Intergenerational Mental Health Awareness Event

Mental Health Matters All Day Every Day Wellness Event

Join us for our free annual all-ages wellness event!

This year’s Wellness Day event, held in partnership with the Center for Applied Technology (CAT-North), will be held on Saturday, May 11th from 10 AM-2 PM.

Local Organizations will be joining the fun and sharing information about their resources.

Activities will include a DJ, games, a photobooth, face painting, a caricature artist, and more.

The first 200 attendees will receive a ticket for free food.

Flourish Through Wellness Event

“Flourish Through Wellness” will be Severn River Middle School’s first wellness event. The “Flourish Through Wellness,” event falls during Mental Health Awareness Month, which is celebrated in May and will highlight mental health by raising proceeds for “Mental Health America,” Mental Health Month Vendors and visitors will also be invited to wear green, the national color of mental health acceptance, representing hope, strength, support, and encouragement for people who live with mental illness.

The “Flourish Through Wellness,” event will host a variety of wellness vendors who will represent the five domains of flourishing: mental and physical health, happiness and life satisfaction, meaning and purpose, character and virtue, and close social relationships. Visitors will have the opportunity to listen to our Keynote speaker, Kristine E. Larson, Ed.D, Assistant Professor of Special Education at Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore and Founder & Chair of the Teacher Education for Flourishing Collaborative Teacher Education for Flourishing Collaborative They will also be able to participate in a yoga and/or a meditation class that will support clearing and calming the mind.

World Tai Chi & Qigong Day (Free!)

Jing Ying Institute, in conjunction with the Severna Park Community Center, will participate with others around the world to practice Tai Chi and Qigong during World Tai Chi & Qigong Day, an annual event.

There will be demos of Tai Chi and Qigong and mini-workshops. The event is suitable for all levels of fitness and is free. Anyone can “just show up,” but if they register in advance, they’ll get a free giveaway bag with healthy goodies.
The event is outside under the trees. If it rains, we'll be in the gym.

As part of the celebration, Jing Ying Institute is offering free, full-length “Tea & Tai Chi” follow-up classes.
